Tomorrow it happens....again

Tonight is my last night of my summer vacation. I'm really not upset about it. I'm ready to go back to work. My job is great, and I can't wait to do it again. I am sad to see the summer go, but maybe when temperatures lower back to the 80's or so, I'll want to knit again. I look at things I have to knit, so my things started, but little finished. Much like a lot of things in my life these days.  I'm not worried though, finishing will happen, it just takes time.

I feel like there should be more here, more about me, and what I do, but I feel like I'm not really in a place for that today, maybe tomorrow. I'm going to really attempt to put some actual "stuff" on here, but sometimes, my attempts never make it past the preview button.

This time, with GUSTO!

So, Niq, how's life?

Life is good. It's amazing what happens when you LET life be good. For the past few years, life has felt anything but good. There's is knitting, there is education, there is soccer, there is yoga. I have been a very very busy woman this year!

I'm turning 30 next month... Yes, this is a little scary, but with all things, there is no fear if you know what's important. So, because I'm going to be 30, I'm really going to use this year as year of finishing things I've started, may it be knitting, books, house projects, so on. This will be the year to get them done. I'm not going to try to put anymore on my plate, but maybe, I can just enjoy knowing what its like to finish what I started.

Here's a breakdown of some what I've started that needs to be finished:
Knitting:
Hourglass sweater- January 2006
Warmest leg warmers- October 2005!!

House:
Repaint trim in kitchen
Finish painting doors/trim in bathroom and halls
Get curtain rods up

Work:
Get syllabus and calendars for 1st semester of physical science and chemistry for tech finished
Get first unit of both classes done before school starts.
Get first two weeks of copies made

I'll try to update on what's going on, let's hope I can get some of this stuff done :)

Slowly but surely.

I feel like knitting has taken a bit of a backseat these days. I think I'm going to do what I did in 2007 and try to finish up a ton of old projects that are sitting in different states of UFOness...

Standby for a listing sometime in the next few weeks... Its a long, long list!

Is this thing still on??

Looks that way :)

I'm supposed to be writing a test about chemical reactions, but why would I want to do that if I can just tink back a whole row of black yarn on a blanket I've been working on for months. I don't know why I ever really put this thing down, but I'm thinking I shouldn't have. I'm hoping that I can pick this up and make it look great...

In non-knitting news, I'm still alive, still in Charleston... Playing soccer, doing yoga... sometimes knitting.

I will be back with something more substancial and pictures soon.

Wow.... holy clowns batman... knitting!

So... Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Valentines's Day, and Happy St. Patrick's Day!... Belated.

Its been quite awhile since I've taken the time to write in here. I have no good excuse, just life. I've been up and I've been down down down... and I'm working my way up again.

This is a knitting blog, so we'll stick the the knitting as talking about the other apsect of my life that sucks up my time does nothing but upset me (this would be work). My knitting over the last few month has taken a backseat to my work, but nonetheless, it does still happen.

My list of finished things isn't huge, but at least there's some things on it. This is just since Cozy...

1. 1 pair of toe up socks
2. a calorimetry out of Noro Kureon
3. a pair of slipper socks for my mother in law
4. a sweater for me
5. 2 hats... maybe 3
6. Slipper socks for Jared
7. Thuja socks for me

Ok, all... thats it... really... I think thats all I've really done. I've started a few things, but nothing of any consequence. I'm really looking at making another green gable
out of Cotton Fleece, and making some teddy bear sweaters for a girl at work, and maybe a sweater for my niece and my little sister. I am working on getting some bathmats made for my master bath. I'm hoping I'll finish them soon, but probably not, since its pretty boring.

I'm heading out... hope to keep this thing updated a little more often.

Happy Halloween!

So, we sent to a Halloween party on Saturday. Jared was an amazing Zombie and I was the Mad Hatter. I'm definately doing the Mad Hatter at Dragon*Con next year... possibly with a better and bigger bow tie.

Here's a few pictures of Jared and I from the night.

It is finished...

My cozy shawl is FINALLY done. It only took 16 months to complete. Its looking very nice on my bay bed blocking. I'll have pictures once I get a new camera as I broke the other one! It was in my purse and hit a cement floor. So not good!

Nothing much really going on other than that. Knitting group tomorrow and thats about it. Have fun!

Its time to get into a routine

I'm thinking I've been here long enough to start working up a routine. I have a plan :) Now, anyone who knows me knows that I'm ambitious and usually can't deliver what I want, but it doesn't ever stop me from trying. So, here's what I'm thinking. Hopefully this will help since I like have tasks, goals, and structure in my life :) I really think its one of the big reasons why I like knitting. Back to my list.

I'm going to make Thursdays a dedicated work on the house time after work. This week I mowed the lawn on the side of the house and even used the weedeater. I haven't used a lawnmower in something like 10 years. I think I was 16 or 17 last time I used one. I have never used a weedeater, my mom was always afraid I've hurt myself. I'm fine :)

Knitting group has moved to Wednesdays here, which means that knitting in public will take place at least on Wednesdays. I'm still going to use Satursday morinngs as knitting time, since I don't really much more time than that anymore.

I'm also going to try to cook at least 3 times a week for dinner and try to take my lunch more often... I usually take some soup once a week, I'm going to try to take some easy non frozen food type things 2-4 times a week. I need to get out of here sometime :)

I'm also going to really try hard to get the laundry done every week. Done includes washed, dtried, folded or hung up, and put away. Really putting away is the hard part in this scenario.

Next on the list is getting the house unpacked. I need to do something, even if its just unpack a box or hang up a picture every day until the house is unpacked. We still have most of the kitchen packed up and all my yarn is still in the garage. We still have some trima nd touch up work to do in my office and at some point I have to buy some office furniture for my room. But, we'll work on that in time.

I'm also trying to work on getting in better shape. I know my shape isn't really that bad to most, but it bugs the living crap out of me, so I'm walking at work and trying to at home.

I think thats what I've got now. I promise more knitting stuff shortly and pictures of my home soon!

MMM yarnnn...

So, now that I have no money, I have bought yarn. This doesn't make any sense, but I did it. I have wanted some self striping yarn that was just cazy colored... I fouuuund it :) Today I ordered 2 balls of Opal Feelings. I bought these 2 colors:
1701

1705
I'm way way too excited about this. I got an awesome deal at 10 a ball too :) Makes me a happy Niquie, what else can I say!
In other news, my mom is coming to visit! I'm getting my carpet tomorrow in 2 rooms and a hall . Its going to be awesome. This means that soon I will have my office :) That I have no desk for... or anything else really right now, its going to be a total work in progress, but I'm so pumped up for it.
